Note 7

The phablet king was here and it is made a grand entrance of its own. We have always known the Galaxy Note to bring in some new intuitive features. This time around it is no different. Samsung played its cards right and had taken the phablet arena by storm once again. Note 7 king was here and all other phablets took a bow.

Iris scanner, new S pen features, waterproof, best camera in a smartphone, dual-edged curved display, USB type-C, expandable storage, water proof and world’s most feature rich UI. Note 7 had it all. The phone was 2mm slimmer than the previous Note series. All this and more as we give you our detailed overview below.

The new Note 7 features included iris scanner. The iris scanner was the first for Samsung and the Android world. The iris scanner adds a new layer of security. We have tried it out personally and we can say that it works well. The flaws have yet to be identified since it is the first implementation but all we can say is Samsung has really upped its game.

There is Gorilla glass 5 on front and back, the process is the same as Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge which is the Snapdragon 820 with 4 GB RAM. On board is 64GB of storage which is expandable via memory card slot. The camera is 5MP front and 12MP rear with F 1.7 aperture lenses, IP 68 water resistance, always on screen. The battery inside is now a whopping 3500mAh and there is a bump of 500 mAh over the Note 5 which is quite a huge bump if you ask us. The standards are there which are fast charging and fast wireless charging.

The iris scanner can be used to access things in private mode as well. This adds a whole new layer of security. The S pen has a finer point and is twice as much as pressure sensitive (4000 levels of pressure sensitivity).

The Note 7 also has new S pen features. Yes! We know you were waiting for this one specifically the hardcore Note users. First thing’s first. The new S pen won’t break even if it is inserted the wrong way. Thanks Sammy! We needed this one. The new features included magnification while moving the S pen on your screen. This would help a lot knowing the business users. You can also translate anything on screen with S pen by hovering it over the text, and lastly you will be able to make GIFs which is quite a neat feature if you ask us. You were also annotate the GIFs as well. There was an option in the Note 5 to make notes when the screen was off, now there is an option to make notes off screen and pin them so they are available even when the screen is off on the always on display mode. You were able to hide your notes, expand them or trash them.

This was one of our favorite phones and one of the most highly anticipated phones of 2016. The phone launched on August 19th and was available for pre-order in the US on all major carriers by August 3rd.  There was also a new blue color the coral blue which in our opinion gave a refreshing look to the Note series.

The hype was short-lived when the whole fiasco took place. Farewell Note 7
