Samsung To Produce World’s First Foldable Phone

Gone those days when Samsung used to follow (copy) Apple. Sammy is coming up with the world’s first foldable smartphone. After being rumored for quite some time, this year, according to several reports, we will get to see Samsung’s foldable phone by the end of this year.

This might revolutionize the smartphone industry as we know it. Foldable phone will certainly be more than a gimmick (we hope). The phone is said to have a 7.3-inch screen which is going to be an OLED panel as OLED panels are the only ones that can be bent. Even Samsung’s CEO has mentioned that the panel would be more than a gimmick. The dent in your wallet will be hefty though as the phone’s rumored starting price is said to be $1800 making it the most expensive mass produced phone.

Device would be named Galaxy X probably because of the X-factor that is the screen. It will be powered by Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM. We have yet to figure out how the foldable panel would be practical. Samsung launched the edge menu with the bent AMOLED panel and that was more of a gimmick for many. Sony and Huawei followed Samsung but the display couldn’t be made any more useful than it was already.

However you may see it, this might make Sammy to be the first one to launch a foldable phone to the mass market. We hope Apple and others might follow if the feature is practical. It would certainly be space saving.
